Remembering Manuel R. Delgado
(December 28, 1940 – October 28, 2024)
The Delgado family is sad to announce the passing of Manuel R. Delgado on October 28, 2024, at age 83 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He attended UC Berkeley in the late 60’s and helped to establish the Ethnic Studies Department through his activism and leadership. The following biographical account was assisted by Lucha Corpi, poet and writer.

In Memoriam: Jane Singh
Jane Singh, who taught courses on South Asian history, literature, and social issues in the Asian American and Asian Diaspora Studies program of Ethnic Studies between 1991 and 2016, passed away in Yuba City on August 18, 2024.
She received her PhD at Berkeley in the South Asian Languages and Literature Department. Her dissertation was titled “Echoes of Revolution: The Role of Literature in the Gadar Movement.”
The Department of Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for an open-rank, tenure-track faculty position in Native American Studies. The Department of Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Chicanx/Latinx Studies at the rank of assistant professor. We encourage applications from scholars that take intersectional and interdisciplinary approaches to research and teaching. The area of specialty is open to scholars of Latino Studies broadly defined.
Professor Christian Paiz’s book, The Strikers of Coachella, has received the American Historical Association-Pacific Coast Branch first book award. Congratulations, Christian!
