Associate Professor of English at UC Berkeley. He is the author of Chicano Novels and the Politics of Form: Race, Class, and Reification and the co-editor of Dialectical Imaginaries: Materialist Approaches to U.S. Latino/a Literature in the Age of Neoliberalism. His current research focuses on Chicanx farmworker literary narratives, neoliberalism and economic crises from 1970 to the late 2000s, and the rise and fall of the farmworker unionization movement during the neoliberal period. He teaches courses in Chicanx/Latinx literature, American ethnic literature, immigration narratives, and Marxist literary theory.
