Our Newest Distinguished Teaching Award Winner: Victoria Robinson!

March 20, 2024

✨ Our very own Victoria Robinson has been recognized with Berkeley’s Distinguished Teaching Award—the highest recognition the campus bestows for teaching! ✨

Victoria is a dynamo pedagogue, collaborator, and mentor for students. She conveys an infectious love to her students of the promise and possibility of the Ethnic Studies classroom as an engine for personal, social, and institutional transformation. Victoria’s courses welcome students to cultivate not only a sense of belonging on the campus, but also to see themselves as impactful knowledge producers in their own right. And from work on wikipedia to data justice to community engagement to creative technologies and more, students in Victoria’s classrooms are invited into a world of innovation–yet one always grounded in a deepening sense of themselves and the worlds in which they find themselves.

And all that’s just half of what Victoria does on campus. The other half of her time, Victoria directs the American Cultures Center, where, with commitment and care, she stewards the campuswide undergraduate AC requirement, one borne from and carrying forth movements to broaden the impact of Ethnic Studies on undergraduate curricula here at Berkeley.

Congratulations, Victoria, on this signal recognition!
