As we head into a much deserved spring break, I'm thrilled to share some good news, via Jennifer Johnson-Hanks, Executive Dean of Letters and Sciences
Christian Paiz is receiving this year's David Blackwell Award! The Blackwell Award is given annually to a recently tenured professor in the College of Letters & Science who embodies the values and aspirations of the College in scholarship, teaching and mentorship, and service, and who serves as an inspiration to others in the campus community. More information about the award can be found on this website(link is external).
Executive Dean Johnson-Hanks says the following in bestowing the award:

The College is at an inflection point in our history, and we continually strive to make Berkeley as renowned world-wide for its undergraduate education as it has always been for the excellence of its research. Christian clearly embodies the true excellence of the College of Letters & Science, and I am thrilled to offer him this well-deserved recognition.
The Department is most grateful to count this inspiring scholar, teacher, and community member in its ranks! Congratulations!
