Lok Siu Receives Campus Service Award

Our very own Dr. Lok Siu is a recipient of the 2023 Berkeley Faculty Service Award! Awarded by the Berkeley Division of the Academic Senate, the Berkeley Faculty Service Award is given annually to honor faculty who, over the course of their careers, have provided outstanding and dedicated service to the University.
Many of us in Ethnic Studies know Lok for her service as Head Graduate Advisor, AAADS program coordinator, and Chair of the AARC. In addition to this high-impact service “close to home,” Lok has served as Chair of Berkeley’s Diversity, Equity, and Campus Climate committee; sat on the Senate’s Divisional Council; and was an important voice on the Joint Senate-Administration Workgroup on the Role of the University and its Units in Political and Social Action. Moreover, at the UC system-wide level, Lok has chaired the UC committee on Affirmative Action, Diversity and Equity, and was actively involved on the UC Task Force on Extending Faculty Diversity and the BOARS IGETC Ethnic Studies Working group, among other impactful activities.
