Celebrating Decades of Staff Service

March 4, 2024

Our staff in Ethnic Studies and in the AGES cluster are an absolutely critical pillar of the work we do–from student engagement to facilities to graduate advising to the countless (many hundreds!) of financial transactions that enable us to achieve our educational mission.

Recently, campus leadership hosted a luncheon to celebrate long-serving staff members, whose contributions are absolutely essential to our work. Chancellor Christ, Vice Provost Plaut, and Associate Vice Chancellor Whitlock all regaled the staff with heartwarming, funny, and deeply validating remarks. And four (!) members of our own AGES staff community were recognized by the campus for their long-standing service.

✨✨ Lindsey Villarreal has just celebrated two decades–20 years!–of service at UC Berkeley.  ✨✨

✨✨✨  Dewey St. Germaine and Laura Jimenez-Olvera each celebrated three decades–30 years!–of service at UC Berkeley.  ✨✨✨

🎉✨🎉✨🎉  And Jeannie Imazumi was recognized for forty-five years(!) of service at UC Berkeley.  🎉✨🎉✨🎉

The Department of Ethnic Studies is immensely grateful for this tremendous crew for all they’ve done, and all they continue to do, to make Ethnic Studies such a special place to teach and work and learn!
