As of Feburary 11, 2026, Dr. Lisa Hirai Tsuchitani has been appointed to serve as co-chair of the UC Office of the President (UCOP) systemwide Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI) Initiative Advisory Board. An initiative of UCOP's Graduate, Undergraduate and Equity Affairs,the UC AANAPISI Advisory Board:
1) provides critical guidance, expertise, and insights into the diverse needs and experiences of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) students across the UC system;
2) offers strategic planning, direction, and cross-campus collaboration to ensure that the initiative aligns with UC’s broader goals and effectively meets the needs of AANHPI students; and
3) serves to advocate for these goals within the UC system and beyond.
Her scholarship in the fields of Asian American Studies and educational equity, as well as her demonstrated leadership and commitment to public service -both on and off campus - most recently as an appointee to the Higher Education Committee Advisory Body of the California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs (CAPIAA) -- make her especially suited for this role.
