Ethnic Studies Undergraduate Student Collective
The ESUSC is dedicated to the advancement of Ethnic Studies pedagogy and theory. We work to provide interactive events, dialogues, film-screenings, teach-ins, and tutoring for the entire Berkeley campus, and for our communities. As dedicated students of color at the university, we recognize the importance of knowledge and knowledge production as legitimate ways to engage with the struggle at large. We work to find creative ways to intervene in the academy, as undergraduate students of color and allies fighting for an education that is relevant to our communities.
Any Ethnic Studies, Native American Studies, Chicano Studies, Asian American Studies, and African American Studies major or minor is more than welcome to attend our meetings and be an equal part of our decision-making process. There is no application and no prerequisites. We ask only that you attend as many meetings as possible (although we understand scheduling is always problematic), and are willing to help us organize. As members, we are committed to organizing events, tutoring for Ethnic Studies courses such as ES 11AC and ES 101B, and creating new and creative programs for undergraduate Ethnic Studies students and the larger student body.
For further information, an updated meeting and event schedule, or to be added to our listserve please contact a current member listed on this website. If you would like to send an e-mail out to the entire collective you can write to us at esusc_cal@googlegroups.com
