The Ethnic Studies Graduate Group doctoral program focuses on the historical and sociocultural study of the core groups racialized in United States history: African Americans, Asian Americans, Chicanos and Latinos, and Native Americans. Transdisciplinary in approach, it encourages students to adopt a broad range of theories and methods to analyze the construction of these racialized ethnocultural groups in relation to each other, in the EuroAmerican context, and in a transnational context.
In addition, Graduate Diversity Director for the Social Sciences Gloria Chun suggests that you check out the Social Sciences Graduate Diversity Office website where their main objective is to make sure that all students, particularly students from underrepresented backgrounds will have full access as well as important tools necessary for preparing their graduate applications. The Graduate Diversity Office website can provide that link to additional resources online as well as personal, off-line assistance.
